Welcome to Paso Robles!
Originally founded in 1844 by Daniel and James Blackburn, Paso Robles has
a history that is as rich and flavorful as the grapes that grow here. The
name Paso Robles is Spanish for “Pass of Oaks,” and the city
was originally formed soon after the California Gold Rush.
The unique array of micro climates that are found in Paso Robles can be
attributed to the moderate daily temperature swing (warm days and cool nights)
and to the rich soils that create optimal growing conditions for a variety
of wine grapes such as Zinfandel, Syrah, and Chardonnay.
As the local wine industry has flourished, so too has the economic vitality
of the city of Paso Robles. Recently called “the next Napa Valley”
by Fortune magazine, Paso Robles is now the fastest growing city in San
Luis Obispo County and this growth is sure to continue well into the future.
To compliment this boom in local wines, Paso Robles offers some of the finest
dining and shopping in the county, as well as a host of activities and events
throughout the year. Car shows at the park, Cruise Night, the famous Farmer’s
Market, Vine Street Lighting, and of course the world famous Mid State Fair,
create an assortment of fun that brings people to Paso from all over the
country.
With so much to offer the local resident and visitor alike, there’s
no wonder why Paso Robles has become such a desirable place to live and
play.
The Paso Robles Real Estate Market:
Due in large part to the success of the local wine industry, the Paso Robles
real estate market has continued to grow at an amazing pace. With a current
population approaching 40,000, Paso Robles could some day overtake San Luis
Obispo in terms of population and economy.
For the home shopper, Paso Robles has more to offer than just fine wine.
With a median home price slightly above $500,000, Paso Robles Real Estate
is quite a bargain when compared to the rest of the San Luis Obispo County.
It is actually very common to find residents from other parts of the county
that have decided to move to Paso Robles because they can afford to buy
more home for their money.
Another important fact to remember about the Paso Robles real estate market
is the city’s potential for future growth. Although most of San Luis
Obispo County has been developed or protected in some way, which has limited
the growth of most cities, Paso Robles has plenty of space to grow and new
houses from Paso Robles to Shandon have become more and more common. Because
of the city’s aggressive growth and affordable living conditions,
now is a great time to shop around for a great deal in the Paso Robles real
estate market.
